“Training and Demonstration of Production and Processing of Spirulina for Self Employment Generation.”

Activities

- Constructed commercial and family based Spirulina production unit for training        purposed.                                                            

- Conducted skill imparting training for self employment generation.

Impact

- Started 23 family based Spirulina production unit and 2 commercial scale unit by trainees.

- Trainings, demonstrations, publication of articles in news paper and magazine, radio talk, TV show created awareness about spirulina use in daily diet.

- Production from family based units, utilized by families, which resulted in improving their daily nutritional diet.

- Trainees earn Rs. 2000-3000 /month through commercial production unit.

- Spirulina produced by KVK has been utilized by more than 100 families in daily diet.

- Regular Spirulina consumption observed in minimizing Blood Pressure, control sugar level in diabetes patients.

Special Achievement 

- One self help group has made a total saving of Rs. 8050/- by using eco-friendly plant protection botanicals beside timely and proper plant protection..

-Crop demonstrations on integrated crop management have increased the yield of different crops by 12.9 –16.21 per cent.

-Concept of Integrated Crop Management has helped to minimize the cost of crop production of different crops by 5-10 per cent.

-Use of Vermicompost has helped in improving soil properties, water holding capacity.

-Trainings and establishment of demonstration units in villages has helped in creating awareness among the population about self employment generation with help of resources available with them.

-Spirulina consumption has shown significant benefits on health of families.

-Rural youths have started earning Rs.1500-2000 per month from Oyster mushroom production units in villages
